The list is exhausted on the reasons why it’s important to keep your website up to date.
1. Compatibility - Ensure all updates are checked and updated to make sure your site is using the right version and no elements have stopped working to a plug-in or element no longer functioning.
2. Responsive & Mobile Friendly - Depending on when you developed your website it may not be responsive or mobile-friendly, check how your website looks on desktop (small and large screen), a tablet and use different browsers i.e. Safari and Chrome. Along with checking on your mobile device, again different sizes will scale your website differently so it’s important to check all elements.
3. Call To Actions (CTA) - Check your call to action are still linking to the correct pages and are in the right position. A call-to-action (CTA) is a button or link that you place on your website to drive prospective customers to become leads by completing an action on your landing page.
4. Website Speed - Your website’s page loading time is a major factor in visitors either staying or leaving your website and never returning. I recommend you use a tool like Google Page Speed Insights or Yslow and find out how long your site takes to load. If your score is not up to standard, you’ll need to look at those elements on your website which is slowing it down. Common elements include unoptimised images, Too Many Ads, JavaScript
5. Content - First impressions count, you have only 2-4 seconds to engage new visitors to your website which is why your content needs to be unique to your business, fresh and relatable to your target market. You want to encourage visitors to stay on your website and work their way through the pages which are heavily dependent on the content you use, images and links between pages. Take them on a journey
There are definitely more reasons why you need to l update your website but there should be enough to get you started. DM me if you’d like to sign up for my masterclass on building your own website.
